Christine Sinclair

Canadian Soccer Star, 2x Olympic Bronze Medalist, 4x World Cup Appearances

Christine Sinclair

Christine Sinclair is a two-time Olympic bronze medalist with the Canadian Women’s National Team. She is a twelve-time recipient of the Canada Soccer Player of the Year award and is the most successful soccer player to ever compete for Canada. As team captain and mentor to the young upstarts on the team, Christine led the 2016 Olympic team by example, scoring the winning goal in the bronze medal match against tough hometown team Brazil at the Arena Corinthians stadium in Sao Paulo.

Since joining the Canadian women’s national team at age 16, Sinclair has played in 250 international matches (as of August 19th 2016) and along the way has become the all-time Canadian leader in goals scored for her country with 165. Currently tied for second in the world in all-time international goals by a female, she has participated in four FIFA World Cups and three Olympic Games, leading the Canadian team to bronze medals at the London and Rio Olympics. In London 2012, she was the tournament’s top scorer and chosen as Canada’s flag bearer for the Closing Ceremonies.
Also notably, during the 2012 Olympic Semi-Final against the United States, Christine scored 3 goals in a losing effort. Rather than focus on the loss, Christine led her teammates to a bronze medal.

After the 2012 Olympics, Sinclair was awarded both the Lou Marsh Trophy as Canada’s Athlete of the Year and the Bobbie Rosenfeld Award as Canada’s Female Athlete of the Year. She is also a recipient of a Diamond Jubilee medal and in 2013, was inducted into Canada’s Walk of Fame.
Sinclair has also won five professional women’s championship titles with three different teams along with two NCAA titles.

She is a role-model for all Canadians, especially a generation of young aspiring female soccer players
